Appointment of Former Representative Held for Further Review

The Senate Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee postponed a vote to confirm the appointment of former representative Mike Pitts as executive director at the S.C. Conservation Bank. Pitts, who served in the S.C. House of Representatives for 15 years, resigned his seat in January to accept the position, which was offered to him by the Conservation Bank Board last fall. McMaster Boots Richland Co. Election Commission After Missed Votes

This week, in a drastic move that surprised some lawmakers, Gov. Henry McMaster (R) stepped in to remove all members of Richland County’s election board by Executive Order after its failure to count 1,040 votes in November’s mid-term election. “South Carolinians’ confidence in the lawful and professional oversight of elections must never be jeopardized,” McMaster said in a news release.
