HR Discussion Question: What is the minimum weekly salary we have to pay for an employee on salary?
HR Answer: The minimum salary for an executive or manager to be exempt from overtime pay is currently $455 per week. The salary amount is only one part of the test. There are other requirements that are too detailed to address.
You cannot apply the minimum salary rule to typical rank and file employees in a convenience store. A clerk in a convenience store must receive overtime pay if they work over 40 hours in a week.
