SCACS has some very sad news to report on Robert Adams, SCACS Lobbyist. Robert Adams, 55, of Columbia, died at his home, Saturday, January 26, 2019.

Robert has been SCACS lobbyist for the past 13 years and is considered a true friend to many SCACS members and part of our SCACS family.

Robert Adams was a senior vice president with McGuireWoods Consulting. He has an extensive background in South Carolina politics and government dating back to his days as a Republican campaign consultant. Robert started his career in politics as a disciple of the late Lee Atwater, working on President George H.W. Bush’s successful 1988 campaign for president and later at the Republican National Committee.

Robert went on to run campaigns for U.S. Senator Strom Thurmond, South Carolina Governor David Beasley and South Carolina Lt. Governor Bob Peeler among others. He served in the administrations of Governor Beasley and Governor Mark Sanford, before beginning his governmental relations practice.

Robert is married to Shana Adams and has two sons, Robert Jr. and Joel. Please keep Shana and his boys in your thoughts and prayers.

A service for Robert will be held 2 o’clock, Thursday, January 31 at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 1100 Sumter Street, Columbia, SC 29201, with a reception to follow in Satterlee Hall. A private burial will precede.
